Rhonda Wheatley is a visual artist who explores the shape and form of thought in imagined physical manifestations. She bases her work on the premise that: One, thoughts continue to exist beyond the thinker’s mind in some ethereal form and on some quantum level and two, thought is linguistically structured (at least for those who use language).
Wheatley is interested in the often elusive act of trying to understand and translate one’s feelings/reactions into words, as well as the fluid nature and constant flow of thoughts and thinking. She creates word/letterform abstractions using hand-written language—including the negative spaces within and between words—adding layering, color, and transparency.
